Bugatti Grand Sport dianggap sebagai mobil cabriolet (beratap terbuka) paling mahal dan paling cepat di dunia.Tak berlebihan, sebab Bugatti Veyron, seperti dikutip dari The Sun, Jumat (4/9/2009), Bugatti ini mampu digeber hingga 400 km/jam.

Tenaga dahsyat itu bersumber dari mesin berkapasitas 7.993 cc 64 valve quad turbocharged yang mampu memebrikan tenaga sebesar 987 bhp.

"Sangat sulit menjelaskan bagaimana gemuruh suara mesin tersebut, rasanya seperti berada dalam jet supersonik ketika mengendarainya," tulis situs tersebut.

Untuk mencapai 0-100 km/jam hanya dibutuhkan waktu 2,7 detik saja. sedangkan di 12 detik kemudian, kecepatan Bugatti ini telah mencapai 320 km/jam. Bagaimana menurut anda? (Okezone)

Tapi jangan salah kaprah, maksudnya sebagai paling mahal dan paling cepat juga pada kelas tertentu saja. Dalam hal ini kelas mid engine grand touring car (mobil grand touring mesin menengah) dan kelas production car (mobil produksi massal).

Sejatinya mobil ini di disain dan dibangun oleh fabrikan mobil Jerman terkemuka yang sohor dengan sebutan VW atau Volkswagen (German Volkswagen Group) dan diproduksi oleh Bugatti, Perancis. Jadi, walau dilabeli merk Perancis, sejatinya mobil ini bisa dibilang buatan Jerman.

Desain Bugatti Veyron dibuat oleh Hartmut Warkuss, eksterior luar oleh Jozef Kaban, dan pengawasan permesinan oleh Wolfgang Schreiber, yang kesemuanya ada di Volkswagen (Walau akhirnya chie engineernya Wolggang Schreiber pindah ke Bugatti).

Nama mobil ini sendiri diambil dari nama seorang pembalap Perancis, Pierre Veyron yang memenangkan balapan 24 Hours of Le Mans tahun 1939.
