Wakasau Marsdya TNI Wardjoko didampingi Aspam Kasau Marsda TNI Haryantoyo melihat dari dekat Pesawat F/A 18D Hornet yang dimiliki TUDM (Tentara Udara Diraja Malaysia).
Latihan yang berlangsung dari tanggal 10-20 November 2008 tersebut, bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan Angkatan Udara kedua negara dalam prosedur operasi bersama, selain itu untuk meningkatkan kemampuan TUDM dan TNI AU dalam operasi taktik terkoordinasi dalam rangka kerjasama keamanan wilayah perbatasan Malaysia dan Indonesia.
Sejatinya, McDonnel Douglas F/A-18 Hornet sendiri merupakan salah satu kekuatan inti dari armada angkatan laut Amerika. Pesawat ini utamanya didesain khusus untuk sasaran darat dan memberikan perlindungan bagi armada laut.
Menggunakan mesin turbofans ganda keluaran General Electric, F/A-18 Hornet mampu melesat hingga 1,8x kecepatan suara atau mach 1,8 dan mencapai ketinggian hingga 50,000ft. Prototype pertama Hornet diujicobakan pada bulan November 1978, dan status operasi disandang pada pertengahan 1983.
Malaysia sendiri sampai saat ini memiliki 8 unit pesawat F/A-18D Hornet. Negara-negara lain yang juga menggunakan Hornet adalah Australia, Spanyol, Kuwait, Finlandia dan Swiss.
