Every human have two kidneys. Talking about kidney anatomy, they attached high enough at the back of the abdominal cavity to be protected by the lowest ribs.

The kidneys are perfectly adapted to their role of “cleansing” the blood and helping to keep its composition constant. The outer part of each kidney anatomy contains about one million tightly packed, coiled, tubular filtration units called nephrons.

kidney anatomy

In kidney anatomy, each nephron receives a share of the copious supply of blood that is delivered every second by the renal artery and removed by the renal vein.

Having filtered fluid from the blood, the nephron then processes the fluid to produce waste urine. A continuous stream of urine trickles from the nephrons into the centre of the kidney, from where it is directed to the bladder.

The thick is about 12 cm (4.75 in) long and 3 cm (1.2 in). Each kidney is surrounded by a thin renal capsule. Kidney anatomy is clearly divided into three zones: cortex, medulla, and pelvis. The outer cortex, and the medulla that surrounds, are the site of urine production.

Understanding kidney anatomy is about to recognize that fluid is filtered out of the blood in the cortex, while in the medulla, substances needed by the body are reabsorbed back from that fluid into the blood.

The remaining urine is collected by ducts that open at the tips of the medulla’s cone-shaped pyramids into the pelvis. In kidney anatomy, it is flattened, funnel-shaped tube channels urine into the ureter, which carries it to the bladder.

Each urine-producing nephrons consists of a cluster of capillaries, called a glomerulus, and a tube, about 3 cm (1.2 in) long, called the renal tubule. At one end of the kidney anatomy, the renal tubule expands to form the cup-shaped Bowman’s capsule, which surrounds the glomerulus like a hand gripping a ball.

From here, it twists and turns before descending from the cortex into the medulla, where it forms the loop of Henie and ascends into the cortex twists and turns again, and joins a urine-collecting duct.

For people suffering from serious kidney disease, kidney transplantation is a life-saving treatment. The operation replacement, a patient’s detective kidney with a healthy one received from a donor. As with most forms of transplantation, drugs are required to prevent the person’s immune system from rejecting the donor organ.

Kidneys transplantation is one of the most frequently performed types of transplantation. Identify kidney anatomy is important for us to prevent kidney disease.
