From the Amazon review this looks like a great toy, so I went to a local store to confirm that it would be suitable for our son. The box contains the following warning: “WARNING: This product contains chemicals, including lead, known to the State of California to cause birth defects and other reproductive harm. I purchased this toy for my two sons (age 9 & 10) and the both enjoy it very much. Contrary to some reviews the instructions are clear and (as far as we’ve seen) correct. As a retired electrician I am more experienced with electrical circuits generally, so this helps explain to the boys WHY it works the way it does.
Quality is generally very good; although one component (light sensitive diode) failed relatively soon. Other than that, it seems very well made and is used often.
Amazon price and delivery were very good as usual.

He was suspicious of this birthday gift at first and a little disappointed. He’d wanted (yet another) video game. But once he opened it and got started on the projects, he was thrilled. It was tops around here for quite a few weeks and remains a favorite.

We bought this for our 9-year old son and it was an instant hit. It’s easy for him to follow the instructions and make stuff happen, and then as he reads further he understand more about how & why it’s working.

This is our second Snap Circuits set. I had to buy another (bigger) set because my two boys, age 9 and 12 were fighting over the first one. The kit comes with a book with instructions you can follow to connect the circuits in different ways to make various things happen (like a fan turn, or a light come on, or sounds etc.) Easy for the kids to use. A great educational toy to learn about electricity.
