Various Usefulness of Olive Oil

Olive oil is well known as one of the food that usually use as cooking oil in the Mediterranean region. Olive oil is known for its low cholesterol compare to other cooking oil. There also other uses of olive oil beside for cooking.

Healthy skin (prevent cancer).

Olive oil contains linoleic acid, which able to keep water from evaporate it can be use as skin moisturiser. According to Leslie Baumann M.D., the author of “The Skin Type Solution”, consuming olive fruit and olive oil could make the skin healthy.

Other ways to make the skin healthy is by scrubbing the skin with olive oil and by adding few drops of olive oil to the warm water for bathe. Baumann also said that olive oil have 4 different types of antioxidant which help to neutralise free radicals that caused the skin aging and skin cancer.

Hair treatment.

Olive oil could be use for hair treatment to treat broken and tangled hair or dry and wavy hair especially in the cold or moisture climate. For hair treatment, spread the olive oil to the comb and comb the hair, cover the hair with shower cap for 3 minutes and rinsed the hair with shampoo as usual. This will help to moisturise the unhealthy dry hair.

Clean the cat’s throat.

The cats usually lick their body to clean themselves. Many time their hair would lose and swollen and cats would cough to get the swollen hairball out from its throat. To reduce these difficulties, add one spoon of olive oil to your cat’s food; beside get the hairball out from its throat, olive oil will also make the hair of your cat healthier and shinier.

Reduce snore

By drink a table spoon of olive oil before sleep will also help to lubricate your throat’s muscles, which is believe could reduce snoring during sleep. Olive oil could also reduce itches in the throat.

Shine furniture and metals

Silver and bronze dining utensils could be polished with toothpaste or tomato sauce. To prevent marks, stains and rusts simply scrub olive oil to these materials; mix olive oil and lemon juice by 2:1 comparison. Dip a soft cloth into this mixture and scrub it. Olive oil also could be use to clean wooden furniture and leathers products such as belt and shoes. To do this, rub it thinly with olive oil, leave for 30 minutes then scrub it with a clean cloth.

Free the difficult zipper

Sometime zippers are hard to move. To make it easier to move, drop tiny bit of olive oil on the zipper and pull the zipper slowly.

Reduce creaking sound to door

Olive oil could also be use as lubricants for your door and reduce the creaking sound when you open the door. Just drop some olive oil on your door’s hinges to reduce the creaking sound. You might also use other lubricants to do this such as WD-40 which is made from hydrocarbon materials. By using olive oil as lubricants we could reduce the use of hydrocarbon to keep our earth clean.
