The manufacturer says this is for “beginners of all ages” but the case says “ages 7 and up.” It is definitely not for total beginners. The games require that you already know how to read music to some extent. This would be good for kids who are already taking music lessons, but it isn’t going to teach music to a kid who doesn’t know it yet. In my case I will have to put this game aside for several years because my 4 year old son cannot play the game at this point.

This product is a good tool for very young children to learn the piano keyboard and note names.

This is a clever little program that will keep the attention of your young ones – I recommend for 2+ to 4 as an entertaining program, ages 5-7 as an educational “introduction” to music with challenges. Computer/mouse operation. The delight it brings is worth the price!

Rating:
This game is good for the price—the first 3 games are good for beginners, the last 3 are a little more challenging. The games aren’t real exciting, but good enough.

Rating:
A colorful, fun program for beginning students, especially for piano students. Includes activities to practice your existing knowledge of names of the piano keys, note names on the treble and bass staff, C major and G major scales, melodic intervals, musical terms, and counting in 4/4 or 3/4 time. No music theory instruction is given – just practice what you already know. The packaging I saw recommended for ages 7+, which seems about right; students using this software will need to be able to read (the directions are not spoken). Very affordable!
